Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa is the city where Elevate was born. Since we launched in the Kotebe neighborhood of the capital in 2021, we have had the privilege of walking alongside families battling urban poverty. These families face many challenges, but carry within them incredible work ethic, resilience, and potential.

Our Program

Our Addis Ababa program serves families through all three of our core pillars: education for students, economic empowerment for parents, and mentorship support for both. The relationships we have built here are the foundation of everything Elevate is.

What We’ve Seen

The growth we have seen over the years in the students from our Addis center is remarkable. Even when it seems like all the cards are stacked against these families, they remain positive and resilient. They have worked hard with the opportunities given to them and put themselves in a position to succeed in life.

Accomplishments we have seen in Addis include:

• 80% of our 12th grade students passing the national college entrance exams, despite the national pass rate being 12% over the same period. (Remedial program included)

• 30% of our students gaining access to high-quality education institutions including Haile Manas Academy and United States International University Nairobi.

• More than 50 families starting their own businesses and graduating to financial independence.
